First Day at Glasgow School of English

You will be sent detailed instructions about how to get to the school from your host family or residential accommodation when your booking is confirmed.

On the first morning, you should arrive at school at approximately 08.45. Please report to the Reception desk to complete your registration form.

Please bring with you:

  • Pens, pencils and a notebook

  • A passport-type photograph for your student card

We will give you your registration form and timetable.

Classes start at 09.00 and, as we don't want you to miss any lesson time, we take you straight to your class. To ensure that your class level is correct, it is very important that you complete our placement test when you book your course.

After your first class, please come to the Reception desk for the new student induction meeting.

We will:

  • take a photocopy of your ID/passport
  • give you information about the school and Glasgow
  • inform you about school activities
  • answer any questions you may have

At the induction we will explain to you about:

  • The school facilities

  • Changing class levels
  • Booking a trip on the social programme
  • How to obtain a class book
