Glasgow School of English is accredited by the British Council for the teaching of English. The British Council is an independent body dedicated to promoting British culture and education throughout the world. Accreditation confirms that the school environment, our administrative procedures and, most importantly, the quality of our teaching meet with the exacting standards as required by The British Council, Accreditation UK scheme. Glasgow School of English was last inspected in March 2019 and the full report can be seen by clicking here.
Glasgow School of English is a member of English UK. English UK is the world’s leading language teaching association with over 450 members. A key condition of membership is that all members hold accreditation from the British Council under the Accreditation UK scheme. This scheme is managed by the British Council in partnership with English UK.
Glasgow School of English is a UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) Student Sponsor. Our sponsor licence number is 18EC8KTJ1 and we are listed on the current Register of Student Sponsors.
To become a Student Sponsor we had to demonstrate an existing track record of recruiting only genuine students, who are fully focused on improving their English language skills, attending their lessons and completing their course in full. We are also required to ensure that we only sponsor genuine students who require a Student visa to enter the UK. We therefore have systems and processes in place to ensure that any application is assessed very carefully before a decision is made to issue a Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies (CAS) which allows a student to apply for a Student visa.
The school is Bildungsurlaub approved for the Rhineland Palatinate, Hessen and Saarland regions of Germany. This means that any German employee from these regions can come and study English in Scotland with us, while still receiving full pay from their employer. Note: in addition to our language lessons, the additional 7,5 hours of language skills and cultural lessons, which are usually optional , are a requirement for participants of Bildungsurlaub from the states of Baden-Württemberg, Hessen, Niedersachsen, and other states requiring more than 30 lessons per week. Please contact us if you would like to learn more about this scheme and how it can help you learn or improve your English.
We are approved to offer courses for CSN in Sweden. This programme provides Swedish students grants to study abroad. They may choose to take a course here.
